September 16, 2015 - Computer science advocates and educators are invited to the first statewide meeting of the Texas Alliance for Computer Science Education (TACSE) in Houston, Texas on October 14, 2015.  This ECEP-funded event will be held in conjuction with the Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing. In keeping with the Grace Hopper theme of expanding and diversifying the computing profession, the TACSE networking event will feature an outstanding panel discussion titled “Expanding the Computer Science Pipeline.” The panelists are individuals who have already played a leadership role in developing policies and programs that support CS Education: Dwayne Bohac, Texas State Representative, Spring Branch; Paula Harris, Houston ISD Trustee and Director of Community Affairs for Schlumberger; and Donna Bahorich, Chair of the Texas State Board of Education. Carol Fletcher, ECEP Alliance member and Associate Director of Texas Regional Collaboratives, Center for STEM Education at UT Austin, will serve as the panel moderator. All individuals interested in promoting computer science education in Texas, including educators, parents, industry professionals, and policy-makers, are invited to attend, network with likeminded colleagues, and contribute to the statewide effort to improve CS Education.

The event has been funded by NSF’s Expanding Computing Education Pathways program and registration is free. Details can be found at http://www.thetrc.org/tacse-statewide-meeting-fall-2015/.
