Massachusetts professional development providers join together, discuss future plans

  • Uncategorized

On November 15, 2013, a meeting organized by ECEP brought together 20 professional development providers in Massachusetts. The group discussed teacher needs and the current training opportunities available for computer science educators--from Massachusetts-grown projects like App Inventor, Artbotics, and Scratch to curricular approaches like Exploring Computer Science courses. Participation from Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education was key to understanding opportunities for advancing computer science education in K12 in the state. In addition to considering how current and planned training workshops might better meet teacher needs, the group plans to collaborate on scheduling and publicity (with support of ECEP) and meet again to work together to improve and expand offerings for educators.
